41 Days to Go: I'm Turning 50! 50 GlowTips I’m sharing to Spread the Glow!

42 Days to go until I turn 50!

So I’ve decided to share 50 GlowTips to Get Your Glow ON – one per day, in no particular order of importance and just as they come to me…

And here’s #GlowTip 10) You are not your circumstances!

And you are not the roles that you play.

It doesn’t matter who you were, where you’ve come from, what you’ve done, or what you’re doing now — your circumstances and roles don’t define who you are.

Circumstances and the roles we play can change in an instant — and then who are we? And my answer to that is: I am still Me!

When we start identifying ourselves with where we are and what we do — we limit ourselves and give up our power to choose. And often this can keep us stuck in Victimville.

I’ve been rich, I’ve been poor, I’ve been in a long-term relationship, I’ve been single, I’ve been a partner in a successful business, I’ve been unemployed, I’ve been a stepmother, I’ve been a boss, I’ve been a freelancer, I’ve been a mentor, I’ve been overweight, I’ve been underweight, I’ve been a smoker, I’ve been unfit, I’ve been a student, I’ve been a teacher, I’ve been an expert, I’ve been a beginner, I’ve been…..so many things that do not define who I am!

I am whomever I choose to be right now!
And I’m not prepared to allow my circumstances to define me.
I’d rather create circumstances to reflect who I am!

Society loves to give us labels. But we don’t have to take those on as our identity. Who we are is so much more than our circumstances.

I choose to be abundantly healthy, wealthy, happy, loving and joyful — regardless of my circumstances; regardless of where I am and who I’m with.

So never mind the circumstances — here’s to being whomever we choose to be!

I choose to be Me!

With Love,

And here’s #GlowTip 9) Enough mourning what you’ve lost — rather Rock your Attitude of Gratitude for what you have!

We all experience loss at some time in our lives. Some of us from a younger age than others. And as we get older it can start taking its toll on us and drag us down.

It’s easy to get caught up in that downward spiral of misery when we’re dwelling on what we’ve lost and what we don’t have. Just thinking about it can send us straight into despair.

It’s crucial that we do give ourselves time to mourn. Time to be with our grief. And then we’ve got to Move On!
Because who wants to be miserable?!

Of course we’ll always have times when we feel overcome with sadness. But we don’t have to stay there.

If you find that you keep looking back with sadness and you’re unable to move on — it’s helpful to rock your Attitude of Gratitude for all the good times you’ve had, and all the Good Stuff you’re grateful for right now!

Gratitude is a fabulous energy shifter! It’s an instant shot of Feel-Good straight to the heart.

We can be so wrapped up in mourning our loss that we don’t even recognise all the Good Stuff that we have in our lives. And we block out more Good Stuff from coming in.

When we celebrate and appreciate all the Good Stuff that we have, we instantly feel better! And we create more (how fab!), enjoy more, share more of the Good Stuff and Spread the Glow!

With Love,

And here's GlowTip 8) Assistance will always show up when you ask for it!

I have never had a problem with asking for help. And as a result, it’s always shown UP!
I believe in asking for help when I need it, and giving help to others where I can.
Many people, especially women, are under the mistaken impression that being ‘strong and independent’ means that you’ve got to battle it out on your own.

Some of them even seem to do with a martyr-like attitude of “I’m here doing all of this on my own, for everyone else, for all you ungrateful people…oh it’s so hard, and I’m so resentful…”

Well of course you’re going to be resentful and miserable, if you’re struggling along on your own.
But you really don’t have to!

Don’t be too proud, or too stubborn, or too afraid to ask for help when you need it. It’s not a sign of weakness to admit when we need help.
In fact it’s quite the opposite.  It’s an affirmation that we believe in ourselves.
And when others offer to help us, it’s an affirmation that they believe in us!

Not everyone that you ask is going to help you. And the people that you would expect to be there for you, sometimes won’t be.
But as long as you’re willing to ask you will receive the assistance you need, often from unexpected sources, in unexpected ways.

We’re all here to support and serve one another. And we all need help at times! We’re not here to try to survive alone.
Find others to collaborate with you on your journey. And extend your support to others wherever you can.

Life is much easier when we support each other. We’re all in this together!
Share the load, share the Love and Get Your Glow ON!

And here's GlowTip 7: The quickest way out of Victimville is to use your power to choose!

There is nothing that makes us feel quite so powerless as thinking that we have no control over our own lives. But most of the time, without realising it, we’ve given that power away.

Because, no matter our circumstances, we always have a choice.

We may not always have control over what’s happening around us, but we can always choose how we respond - we can always choose the emPowering view!
And (see yesterday’s GlowTip 6) that always starts with deciding what we want to experience.

The thing I hated most about being a child, was knowing that other people had power over me. Being told what to wear, how to behave, what to do and who to do it with really grated my independent, self-determined spirit. I couldn’t wait to be able to make my own decisions. I couldn’t wait to live life on my terms. And that in itself was an emPowering choice!

I see people feeling hopeless about their circumstances, feeling hopeless about their future, and being terrified of what will happen to them – all the time not realising that all of it is totally up to them!

Nobody else has the power to choose the thoughts you think, what you believe, how you respond and what you decide to do – unless you let them!

Your perception of Life is a choice. If you don’t like what you’re seeing, you can choose to look at it another way.

Look for the UPside. Look for all the Good Stuff that you CAN create and experience. And this will open up a whole new world of emPowering choices for you.

Using your power of choice is the quickest way out of Victimville! And you CAN choose to enJOY the ride!

With Love,
